About Me
A little about myself. From the age of 10, I discovered sewing machines and many hours were spent teaching myself to sew, making and adjusting garments.
My elective subjects at high school were Clothing and Textiles, and as a teenager I made all my own clothes.
Everything I know about garment sewing construction I learnt in the mid 80's during an apprenticeship as a seamstress / dressmaker in Auckland.
Many years followed in production work always doing full garment construction. I have done contracting work for well known labels including cutting and producing requested samples.
My experience also includes making curtains for stages and theatres.
I have a Diploma in Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising.
Further experience ranges from bridal wear to shade sails, canvas and vinyl products, leather, curtains and soft furnishings.
Previously I owned a Clothing alteration business for 7 years of which I specialized in men's suit tailoring & did so for local menswear retail stores.
I have recently been pattern creating/grading with CAD programs.
I am in possession of a wide range of commercial industrial sewing machines capable of small run manufacturing
Sewing has been my life and I feel I am a very confident and capable seamstress.
